For how long you and your cell phone remain away during the day?

M.Sc. students Kalpesh, Urvi, and Rajvi would like to know. To take part in their project please fill up the details in shared worksheet. We will be grateful for your help in our attempt to know what could be effect of too much (more than 6 minutes/day as DOT says) of cell phone use.

  1. Does the type of cell phone and features affect the cellular functioning?

  2. By type and features of cell phone we mean the extent of exposure (Specific Absorbence Rate as mentioned by the manufacturers) to radio frequency radiation in terms of Hertz, Power density etc. and these are different. Extent will be higher with two sim cards, with Internet access ON, with low signal strength by the service provider etc. Now the functioning of cells in response is something we are planning to study in terms of Oxidative stress, Nitraosative stress, and mainly damage to nuclear material. More work needs to be done with respect to dose-effect relationship for a parameter. The concerns reported by individuals due to cell phone radiation exposure were considered vague and subjective, but now WHO has recommended that 'electrosensitivity' is a real thing and ICD10 code has also been assigned.
